Here you'll find a website representing the first half-century of a remarkable man, our Dad.
Writing the text and finding the old photos for the gallery was great fun, but we also learnt some other interesting facts when researching for 'www.robertchilds.co.uk'
Did you know in your birth year of 1957...
• The Soviet Union sent a dog into orbit carried on the artificial satellite Sputnik II. This represented the first living being to enter space!
• The European Common Market was created, presumably making it relatively easy for a Welshman to date an English girl called Lorraine 17 years later!
• Britain detonated the first hydrogen bomb! Nan tells us you were mischievous as a child, but we hope this had nothing to do with you!
• West Side Story and The Music Man opened on Broadway New York.
• Champion golfer Severiano Ballesteros was born in the same week as you! This surely goes some way to explaining your hidden talent on the golf course! I wonder what Seve is like on euphonium?!
